NSCD Summer Mountain Programs

Therapeutic Horse Riding

Join the NSCD for lessons in Western, English or adaptive riding skills. Learn basic horse care, grooming, horse health and behavior. Scenic one hour trail rides for individuals, families and groups also available. Arrive 15 minutes before lesson time.

Enjoy the stunning mountain scenery around Grand Lake and learn basic sailing techniques from junior members of the Grand Lake Yacht Club. Bring a sack lunch and plenty of water.

Access Summer Fun

Join us for a variety of great activities throughout the summer designed for adults with physical challenges or brain injuries. Must be independent in personal care. Attend one or all five programs.

  • July 2 – Horseback Riding – Snow Mountain Ranch - $50
  • July 23 – Lake Fun – Monarch Lake - $60

Camp under a star-filled sky, roast marshmallows over a campfire and enjoy our accessible campground at the foot of majestic James Peak. Space is limited and is based on a first come first served basis. Rental equipment is available.

River Rafting/Inflatable Kayak

Plan a great day on the beautiful Colorado River with your family, friends or group. Learn the basics of raft and water safety and enjoy your trip down the river in rafts or duckies.

  • Price:Half Day: $55
    Full Day: $75
    Overnight Experience: $250

Kayak or canoe on mountain lakes or rivers with the NSCD. Learn basic canoe or kayak skills and graduate to different levels of water. Find serenity or excitement, but always lots of fun.

  • Price:Two Hour Canoe/Kayak: $30
    Full Day Canoe/Kayak:$55
