Winter Park, Colorado
January 2, 2008 - Included in the Omnibus bill that President Bush just signed is funding of $150,000 for facility development in Winter Park, Colorado for the National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD). "We are thrilled with the funding, it allows us to start planning a facility that will help us meet overwhelming demand for the programs we offer in Winter Park," said Craig Pollitt, CEO of the NSCD." We particularly want to thank Congressman Mark Udall who took the lead on our request as well as Congressman Tancredo, Congresswoman DeGette and Senator Salazar who also supported the request through their offices."
The National Sports Center for the Disabled is starting its 38th year of operations and is the largest outdoor therapeutic sports organization in the world. Offering quality outdoor sports and therapeutic recreation programs that positively impact the lives of people with physical, cognitive, emotional or behavioral challenges, the NSCD accommodates people of all ages with any disability through over 20 different sports and activities throughout the year.
